Day 1: Arrival — Jungmun
Afternoon flight from Busan, landing around 5pm. Picked up our rental car at the airport (the easiest rental process we've experienced anywhere), then the roughly 40-minute drive to Parnas Hotel Jeju in Jungmun.
Evening: Check-in, then dinner nearby — Jeju black pork, dry-aged 30-40 days, at a restaurant right beside the hotel.
Day 2: West and South Loop
A full day looping the west and south of the island, with stops planned as follows:
Morning: Hallim Park and the Ssangyonggul lava tube cave — lava tunnels, stalactites, and a subtropical garden, plus a traditional thatched-roof village within the park.
Late morning: Hyeopjae Beach, right beside Hallim Park — white sand and turquoise water, with views to Biyangdo Island.
Midday: Osulloc Tea Museum — green tea gardens, matcha café, and a shop.
Lunch: Seogwipo Olle Market — a traditional market with fresh sashimi (hwe), seafood pancakes, and local fruit.
Afternoon: Gamtanam for Jeju tangerines and local desserts, right by the market.
Late afternoon: Back to the hotel to rest, or use the pool and spa.
Evening: Jusangjeollidae — basalt cliff pillars along the coast, a flat, accessible walk. Then Jeongbang Waterfall, one of the only waterfalls in the world that drops directly into the sea, also flat and accessible.
More on Jeju's east side
Day 3: East Loop and Departure
Morning: Driving the east coast, with optional stops at Hamdeok, Woljeong, and Gimnyeong beaches depending on time and weather.
Midday: Seongsan Ilchulbong — either the ~30-minute climb to the summit, or the flat Seopjikoji alternative alongside it.
Lunch: Near Seongsan harbour.
Afternoon: Haenyeo diver performances, near the harbour (1pm, 2pm, or 3pm).
Late afternoon: Drive to the airport via the north route, return the rental car, and check in for the flight onward.
What Actually Happened
We followed this route as planned, but rain followed us for the entire stay — several of the outdoor stops (the beaches especially) lost most of their appeal in the conditions, and we spent more time at the hotel than intended.
